  • On 17 November, Sangay volcano erupted an ash plume approximately 1 km above the crater, moving in a south-east direction.
  • According to the National Risk and Emergency Management Service of Ecuador, widespread ash has been reported in Macas City (Morona-Santiago Province) and in surrounding localities.
  • The National Risk and Emergency Management Service and the Geophysical Institute are monitoring the volcano.

The Smithsonian/USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report provides information about global volcanism on a weekly basis. Latest Sangay report has been published on 18 Dec 2019 06:51.
Based on information from the Guayaquil MWO, satellite images, and wind model data, the Washington VAAC reported that during 10-17 December ash plumes from Sangay rose to 5.8-7.3 km (19,000-24,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted in multiple directions.
